Shanghai Tower (上海中心)
Shanghai Tower examines the design and construction of one of the world's tallest and most technically advanced skyscrapers. Rising in the heart of Shanghai, the tower combines offices, retail, hospitality, cultural spaces, and public amenities within a vertically integrated mixed-use environment.
The book explores the project's defining features, including its double-skin façade, sky gardens, and sustainable design strategies, as well as the architectural, structural, and engineering solutions developed to meet the challenges of constructing a supertall building at this scale. It also considers the tower's role as a model for future high-rise design, demonstrating new approaches to environmental performance, occupant experience, and urban density.
Part of the CTBUH In Detail series, this full-color volume draws on the expertise of the architects, engineers, and other specialists involved in the project to present a detailed case study of one of the most significant skyscrapers of the 21st century. It is intended for architects, engineers, students, and readers with an interest in contemporary architecture and tall building design.
